Texans love Big Bend National Park, but as it grows in popularity, are the things they love at risk? Former national park superintendent Bob Krumenaker will talk about the grassroots Keep Big Bend Wild (KBBW) initiative, whose goal is to guarantee that the park's most important asset โ€“ its wild, open spaces โ€“ will be protected in perpetuity into the future.

KBBW is building a widespread coalition of support for a long-dormant effort to see the still-undeveloped wild lands of Big Bend National Park away from the existing roads and facilities be protected as federal wilderness, something only Congress can enact. It's the best way to protect the park's natural and cultural resources, wildlife, night skies and natural sounds for future generations while maintaining the facilities and access today's visitors enjoy.

KBBW is working with the NPS to build the public support essential to show our Congressional delegation that this protection is something Texans want. Wilderness is not a partisan issue and has been championed by people of all political parties. Come, learn about the history and context of this initiative, and be part of a discussion of how you can help to

Keep Big Bend Wild.
